Corner Units in Apartment Projects
Corner units gain windows, light and ventilation, generally at a premium and with greater exposure.
Updated

Corner units have openings on two or three sides rather than one, which accounts for most of their characteristics.
The advantages cited are genuine cross ventilation, difficult to achieve in a single-aspect unit at any price; more natural light; one fewer shared wall, reducing noise transfer; and frequently a better outlook and greater privacy.
The corresponding characteristics are more external wall area and therefore more heat gain, particularly where one face is west; greater exposure to external noise where a unit fronts a road; and a preferred-location premium on the cost sheet.
The assessment described examines which directions the additional openings face - a north-and-east combination being regarded favourably, a west and south-west combination less so without deep shading, the additional glazing then working against the occupant.
Layout is examined alongside, some corner units carrying awkward geometry with an angled room or an extended circulation spine consuming area.
Where orientation is favourable and the premium moderate, corner units are commonly identified among the better value decisions available within a project, the benefits being permanent and not retrofittable.
